November 10th Conference Call

This is the last leg of the MBA guys!!! The first Master's level call is on Tuesday Nov. 10th at the regular time. Please come to the call prepared to discuss what skills you would like to build on during the next six week and/or any topics you would like to have included in this series of calls.

October 6th Conference Call

Channelle from store 1479 will be our guest leader for this next week's call on Accountabilty. Here is what she would like you all to do to prepare for the call.......

*In the Field MU please print and read the article titled "Accountabilty".
(Field MU can be found on Intranet under Training)

*There is a self test on page 12 of the article and we would like everyone to complete that.

* We would like everyone to think of someone who is very successful in the position that you yourself hold as well as someone who has some room for improvement. Be prepared to share examples and/or thoughts on them.

September 8th Conference Call

For next week's please print and read the article titled "Helping Others Take Ownership" that can be found under Manager Development in the Field MU on intranet. Please come prepared with one question that you would like to pose to the group that is related to the article.

July 28th Conference Call

July 7th Conference Call

We are super excited to remind you all that this is our last associate level conference call!! I'm proud of all of you who have stuck through it and now are being rewarded with that 'degree'! Reminder to those of you that have not certified with your manager...you might want to set up a time this week or next because you MUST be certified no later then July 11th in order to participant in the next round of calls.

On to this next week's call, we are going to be covering some HR procedures that are relevent to your positions as well as proformance evaluations. To prepare for this call we would like everyone to read the tabs on these two topics that are located in the Managment Think Box and browse through the section in the employee handbook that deals with HR...make yourself familar with Maurices policies regarding the different aspects of Human Resources. In addition to those items we would also like everyone to write a performance evalution for themselves!! Talk with your store manager to ensure that you understand what this task entails.

We are not going to have any formal questions this week so make sure you know your HR stuff cause we're going to spring random questions your way! Talk to you on Tuesday!

OOPS

The next conference call has been scheduled all along as being on June 23rd. This is actually the forth Tuesday of the month! We are going to go ahead and leave the call on this date which in turn will give you and your partner an extra week of planning time. Sorry for the confusion!

The next conference call will revolve around Loss Prevention. This is a huge topic in our opinion in light of our company results for the last year. Due to the fact that last month was Loss Prevention Month and everyone has already read the tabs and held store meetings we are shaking up the struture of the next call. We are going to partner you up with another manager and together you will need to come up with a sub-topic involving Loss Prevention. Each partnership will be responsible for roughly 15 minutes of the next call. You will be responsible for contacting your partner and discussing what issues you would like to talk about. These topics can range from tips and prevention tatics to discussing the differnt aspects of loss that are not so foremost in our minds. The sky is the limits and we are excited to see what you and your partner can bring to the call! Remember that I need either you or your partner to comment back with your discussion ideas by Saturday June 20th!

We strongly urge you not to wait til the last minute to contact your partner. Remember you and your partner are responsible for about 15 minutes of the next call, and we don't want any dead air!

P.S. For those of you who see your name highlighted in red on the sidebar, we're dissapointed in the lack of initiative we are seeing in you. Those with their name in red have missed two or MORE conference calls. That being said we are now considering you inactive as far as our program is concerned. We just want to remind those managers that are in this group that MBA is a REQUIRED part of your job. If you have any questions as to why you have been placed on this list feel free to contact us. Keep in mind that if you are able to pass your associates on your own before July 11th you are more then welcome to join in on the bachelor level calls.

P.S. As you may have noticed we decided to hold off on partnering everybody up until we can see who is actively participating in the calls. It would be very discouraging if some managers ended up with a partner that wasn't serious about the program.

1. After reading the Management Toolkit tab on Feedback/Feed Forward how would you personally define feedback? How about Feed Forward?

2. Why do you feel that continuous feedback/ feed forward that is given on the spot carries more benefits vs. only discussing issues periodically?

3. Why do you think that consistent feedback is an important part of “growing your team”?

4. Think of situation where you were given feedback. How did it make you feel? Was there anything that you would have changed about the situation?

5. Think of a situation where you were the one giving the feedback. Were you comfortable in the position? Looking back now would you change anything?

We were serious when we said that we were only interested in having those managers that were willing to commit participate.
